Viva Air Colombia is a low-cost commercial passenger airline from Colombia. Founded on September 16, 2009 under the name of Fast Colombia S.A.S., it began operations on May 25, 2012. Its operations center is the José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, which provides service to Medellín.
Initially, the airline had established in El Dorado International Airport - Bogota, however, due to the modernization works carried out by airport, the high operating costs and the limited operating slots, it was decided to make a survey of all airports in Colombia and the final and official result led to the transfer of the operations center to the Rionegro airport near Medellín. William Shaw is its founder and for 4 years he was the Commercial Vice President of the airline. He worked for British Airways for 14 years and has over 18 years of experience in the airline industry.
The airline is part of the investment fund 'Irelandia Aviation'. Irelandia is the world's leading low-cost airline developer, led by Declan Ryan, current president of the Viva Air group, one of the founders of Ryanair. Irelandia has successfully developed 6 low-cost airlines in the world, being them Ryanair, Tiger Airways in Australia and Singapore, Allegiant in the United States, Viva Aerobus in Mexico, Viva Air Colombia and Viva Air Peru. Irelandia currently owns 100% of its shares.
On May 25, 2012, operations began with a flight between the José María Cordova, in Rionegro and El Dorado in the city of Bogotá.

Viva Air Colombia es una aerolínea de bajo costo comercial de pasajeros de Colombia. Fundada el 16 de septiembre de 2009 bajo el nombre de Fast Colombia S.A.S., inició operaciones el 25 de mayo de 2012. Su centro de operaciones es el Aeropuerto Internacional José María Córdova de Rionegro que brinda servicio a Medellín.
Inicialmente la aerolínea había establecido su centro de operaciones principal en el Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado de Bogotá, sin embargo, debido a las obras de modernización que lleva a cabo dicho aeropuerto, los altos costos de operación y los limitados slots de operación se decidió hacer un sondeo de todos los aeropuertos de Colombia y el resultado definitivo y oficial originó que se trasladara el centro de operaciones al aeropuerto de Rionegro en cercanías de Medellín. William Shaw es su fundador y durante 4 años fue el vicepresidente Comercial de la aerolínea. Trabajó 14 años en British Airways y tiene más de 18 años de experiencia en la industria aeronáutica.
La aerolínea forma parte del fondo de inversiones «Irelandia Aviation». Irelandia es el desarrollador líder de aerolíneas de bajo costo del mundo, liderada por Declan Ryan, actual presidente del grupo Viva Air, uno de los fundadores de Ryanair. Irelandia ha desarrollado exitosamente 6 aerolíneas de bajo costo en el mundo, siendo ellas Ryanair, Tiger Airways en Australia y Singapur, Allegiant en Estados Unidos, Viva Aerobus en México, Viva Air Colombia y Viva Air Perú. Actualmente Irelandia tiene el 100% de sus acciones.
El 25 de mayo de 2012 inició operaciones con un vuelo entre el José María Cordova, en Rionegro y El Dorado de la ciudad de Bogotá.
